First Alert: East shore surf to hit advisory levels through Saturday

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The National Weather Service of Honolulu issued Thursday a high surf advisory for east-facing shores as a new north-northeast swell brings higher waves.
The alert remains in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday.
Forecasters said large breaking waves of 7 to 10 feet will increase to 8 to 12 feet on Friday when the swell peaks.
The medium- to long-period moderate swell will also generate strong breaking waves and strong currents that will make swimming difficult and dangerous. Heed all advice from ocean safety lifeguards.
